The Minnesota Project

Materials on the Minnesota Project, an adult education program sponsored by the educational boards of both the LCA and the ALC. File includes: a summary of the project, advertisements and registration forms for various educational programs and conferences, program for the Faith-in-Life Assembly, etc.

The Q-12 Log

The yearbook for Dr. Schnackenberg’s naval class, 02-1944, called, “The Q-12 Log” from Camp Macdonough in New York. This yearbook contains information about the United States Navy, a brief history of Plattsburg, pictures of training activities, and pictures of Companies A-K of Class No. 2. Schnackenberg is listed on page 76.

Title IV

Materials regarding the National Defense Education Act (1958) which encouraged the creation and expansion facilities of graduate study. Dr. Schnackenberg served as the chair of the resultant committee. File includes Higher Education and National Affairs bulletins, agendas for a regional conference on the National Defense Education Act, preliminary committee reports, applications for graduate fellowships, descriptive statement of the program proposal, correspondence regarding the legislation, proposals for grant money, and letters documenting the rejection of some of PLU’s proposals by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.

An Undated pamphlet entitled “To Whom the Future Belong” by Dr. Schnackenberg on graduate studies published by Board of Christian Education of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (Vol. 2, Issue 4).

Tour of the Far East

Materials from Dr. Schnackenberg’s tour of the Far East which was related to his work with Franklin Pierce Public Schools. File includes: notes on expenses, correspondence with schools officials and travel agents, itineraries, a pamphlet on FANGUM comprehensive high schools, and the constitution of the American School Association.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Materials regarding membership at Trinity Lutheran Church; Includes a breakdown of committees, bylaws, a series of proposed revisions to the constitutions, a booklet called “The Every Member Visit”, an organizational chart, correspondence regarding the proposed revisions to the constitution, other examples of Dr. Schnackenberg’s work on the constitutional committee, and correspondence regarding fundraising activities.
