The Tellefson/Vignec/Rieke Years

Ronald Tellefson was University Pastor at Pacific Lutheran University from 1977 until 1987. Significant events during his time include the Faith in Life Forum, Beckman Memorial Lectureship, the creation of Chicago Folk Services, the Peacemaking Conference, the PLU for Africa Week, the establishment of ties with Namibia, and the University Congregation's 30th Anniversary Celebration. After leaving his post as University Pastor, Tellefson was appointed Director of Church and University Support at PLU. Associate Pastors to Tellefson were Ron Pierre Vignec (1980-1985) and Stephen Rieke (1985-1986).

The Taylor/Dalton Years

Donald W. Taylor was Pastor for the Student Congregation and University Chaplain for Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) from 1969 to 1971. During his time at PLU, the Religious Life committee was formed to address the religious needs of the students (1971). Though the Student Congregation continued to be the dominant worship community at PLU, other religious groups gained popularity and attendance. Efforts were made to give students the opportunity to worship with off-campus congregations. Student Congregation services were moved to the Chris Knudsen Hall in the University Center. Morris Dalton was his Associate Pastor from 1969-1970.
