Diary 1957

This diary mentions that Xavier is confined to bed for a week, often spends all day studying or gardening in the spring and summer, and writes very detailed notes form the sermons every Sunday. Signe is often in town or visiting someone. Include is a blotting sheet of sums.

Diary 1958

This diary mentions that Xavier forgets many of his engagements—particularly for the evenings. But he still notes PLC sports scores. There is a small magazine calendar for 1959.

Notebook

This notebook contains the following subjects: 179 miscellaneous quotations, 110 quotations from himself, American Language of Flowers (in alphabetical order), a discourse entitled, “The Roman Legion,” precious stones for each month of the year and their meaning, the harmony of colors, language of the fan, glove, parasol, and handkerchief, alphabets translated into the English alphabet (including the languages he writes in), English grammar notes, puzzles and tricks, mathematical puzzles, drawings of angels and cherubs between pages, conundrums, railroad signals and tableaux, plays and games, illuminated alphabets, drawings of ornaments, a small package of illuminated names, an advertisement, and gesture language illustrated and translated.
