Harvard Dissertation (1934-1935)

Information related to Dr. Mortvedt’s Ph.D. thesis on Thomas Morton. This file contains a summary of theses from Harvard (1934), summaries of Mortvedt’s dissertation entitled “Thomas Morton: His Life and Works” (in published and original form), and an essay entitled “The Dramatic Works of Thomas Morton.

Election Correspondence (1952-1953)

Congratulatory greetings from friends, associates, and community members on Dr. Mortvedt's election as President of Bethany College. The file also includes an official letter from the Evangelical Lutheran Kansas Conference of the Augustana Lutheran Church extending the call to become President of Bethany College. Dr. Mortvedt also kept copies of all his responses to the greetings.

University of Kansas City Crisis (1952-1953)

Statement of Vice President Mortvedt and Dean Norman Royall Jr., handwritten draft letter to President Decker from Dr. Mortvedt, handwritten outline of the case, draft of a response to President Decker's resignation, anonymous critical letters written to Dean Royall and Dr. Mortvedt, and a publication of the History of the University of Kansas City covering the crisis.
