Augustana College’s Centennial Convocation (1960)

File contains materials regarding the Centennial Celebration in 1960 for Augustana College in Sioux Falls, Iowa including the centennial convocation at which Dr. Mortvedt delivered the address “The Music of a Different Drum” and was awarded the 1960 Centennial Award. Also included are a brief biography of Dr. Mortvedt and a “Historical sketch of Augustana College” written for the occasion.

Candidate Search (1962)

PLU's search for a new President in 1961 includes a list of "Recommended Qualifications of a President for PLU" and a complete list of nominations. Also a memorandum from the Board of Regents to the administrative offices regarding the self-study program, the nomination process, draft of an article to appear in the student newspaper, the Mooring Mast, regarding the final stages of the nomination process as well as a letter to Dr. Mortvedt confirming his election as president, a letter confirming his acceptance, a letter from president Eastvold expressing congratulations, and clippings from the Tacoma News Tribune announcing Dr. Mortvedt's election.

Inauguration Preparations (1962)

Correspondence concerning Dr. Mortvedt's inauguration. Included are discussions about the design of a presidential medallion, invitations to the event including a letter from Dr. Mortvedt to President Nathan N. Pusey of Harvard University to address the University Congregation, and inaugural notes for the committee and lists of people to be invited.
