This diary was kept while Xavier was attending the University of Minnesota and teaching at Ladies Lutheran Seminary. It is mentioned throughout his diary that he teaches Latin, “Political Geography,” and Geometry, discovers he is nearsighted, learns to use a typewriter, notes the physical and scholastic condition of his students, takes the oath of citizenship, attends teacher’s meetings, returns home for the summer collecting money for the school and reading, travels to Stanley Falls, and returns to LLS in the fall. This diary is a new type of book from Lutheran Publishing House (in Decorah, Iowa) with small writing spaces. The back of the book includes an advertisement for Andrew’s Jewelry Store, a coupon for a portrait, list of cash amounts, personal property, and addresses. He mentions that he is taking vocal lessons, includes programs from PLA, a bill from the PLA dining hall, and a fake arrest by Signe Skattebol and Anna M. Tennewick. It further mentions that he resigned as President in South Tacoma Congress of Luther, is preaching again, serving box for Miss Signe, and is teased by the staff at PLA for his engagement to Signe Skattebol.

This diary, kept during Xavier’s time at PLC, mentions he plays tennis and watches basketball but quarrels with Signe on April 19th: “How one can live peacefully with you is more than I can understand!”- Signe to Xavier. They gain a new baby girl on May 17th and name her Barbara (Babs). She is officially adopted on June 8th. She also rapidly loses weight but she recovers quickly. Xavier starts Parochial School on June 19th and occasionally prints now. The Xaviers are given a surprise anniversary party by their friends for their 10th anniversary. No accounts appear in the back, but there are notes from Bible Institute or Conference and Entry for May 4, 1922. In front is the list of addresses, as well as an election card and some sort of building plans on the back of junk mail.
This diary, kept during Xavier’s time at PLC, includes Barbara’s weight often when he writes down the results every day: “Babs’s first tooth comes in on February 3rd”. He still watches PLC basketball, writes notes from all the sermons he attends or gives with the title and speaker, notes Paul’s smart answers to Signe, resigns as secretary of Our Savior’s Church and becomes a member of Trinity Church. Babs learns to stand up on July 28th and her bottom teeth come in crooked, so the Xaviers take her to the dentist. Xavier becomes the leader of the Junior League, Paul’s left foot is poorly, and Xavier is still preaching and might even be the temporary chairman of the congregation at Trinity.
