Election Correspondence (1952-1953)

Congratulatory greetings from friends, associates, and community members on Dr. Mortvedt's election as President of Bethany College. The file also includes an official letter from the Evangelical Lutheran Kansas Conference of the Augustana Lutheran Church extending the call to become President of Bethany College. Dr. Mortvedt also kept copies of all his responses to the greetings.

Inauguration Correspondence-Personal (1953)

Congratulatory inaugural letters from friends, colleagues, fellow university Presidents, public school administrators, the Kansas State Department of Public Instruction, the Board of Education of the American Lutheran Church, the president of the Augustana Lutheran Church, the Board of Christian Education of the ELC and other church related organization and corporations. Also included are copies of Dr. Mortvedt's responses.

Awards and Honors given to Dr. Mortvedt: Fellow of California Lutheran Educational Foundation, an Award of Merit for "This Is My Church” Papers, the Thiel College Associate Award, a citation for the Degree of Doctor of Laws from PLU, and the Distinguished Alumnus award of St. Olaf College.

Articles (1958-1962)

File includes articles in a series called "Our Christian College Advance" published in the Lutheran Companion that Dr. Mortvedt kept in his files. Also included are other articles published about Lutheran Higher Education, and an article about Dr. Mortvedt and his "Twin" jobs as Executive Director of the Education of the Augustana Lutheran Church and the United Lutheran Church in America.
