The date for organization is 1949, but work there began many years before, about the same time asthe Brevig Mission in 1894. Missionaries from Brevig often serve the people of Teller. The church building began as a saloon and restaurant during the gold rush of the late 1800s, and for many years was used as a warehouse before being sold to the church.
