Bertha Blanche (Hall) Oles was born in Lafayette, Ohio. She lived in Michigan, Washington, and, for over forty years, California. She married Robert Oles. At age 90 she kept active making quilts and hand-made greeting cards. She belonged to a contest club where she won many prizes by completing the phrase “In 25 words or less…” She kept a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and also a typewritten book of synonyms of the words commonly used in the crossword puzzles she enjoyed doing.
