Biographical Note

Dr. Trygve W. Buschmann died 17 February 1973 at age 84. He was a Seattle physician and surgeon for over 50 years, co-founder of the Norse Home, and also president of the Norse Home Board from 1943 to 1955. He was born in Bergen, Norway and immigrated with his family to Tacoma in 1891. He graduated from Broadway High School and then the University of Washington in 1909 and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1913. He was a member of numerous clubs and organizations throughout his life. He had one daughter. His brothers were August and Eigil.

Eigil Buschmann died in 1963. He was born in Norway and immigrated to Seattle with his family as a boy. His father was Peter Buschmann, founder of Petesburg, Alaska. Eigil and his father were in the salmon business in Alaska. Later he began operation of the Nakat Packing Corp. in 1922 and retired in 1954. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, a member of the Elks, Nile Temple of the Mason, a member of the Seattle Historical Society, a member of the Norwegian Commercial Club, and member of the Alaska-Yukon Pioneers. He married Nora E. and they had four sons and a daughter and eleven grandchildren.
