General note
Pastor Donald Tigges was called by the American Missions Committee of the ALC to be Calvary’s organizing pastor. Incorporation of the congregation took place at the building site at Cherry and Compton Streets on September 6, 1962. Construction was underway for a church in July of 1962, and first services were held November 18 of that year with 169 members in attendance. The congregation officially organized on March 31, 1963. The church was dedicated on April 28, 1963. A large fellowship room and Sunday School rooms were added in 1979 when a fire inside the original building called for the remodeling of the entire church plant.
