General note
Christ Lutheran dates back to October of 1896 when a number of families who were members of Emmanuel in Walla Walla desired dismissal to begin their own congregation in the southwest part of Walla Walla. They were joined by others from German-Russian background. These people established themselves at 140 West Maple, and shared the pastorate with Emmanuel for the first 16 years. The first building erected and served the congregation until 1904. At that time a larger building was erected which served them until 1954. In 1954 the congregation relocated at its present site. The entire church plant was enlarged and a sanctuary built in 1984.
