In 1974 the Division of Missions of the LCA purchased the present site of Family of God Lutheran, organized in 1977 under the direction of Mission Developer Steve Morrison. The first service had been held on October 3, 1976 at Fairview Junior High with approximately 100 in attendance. The first church council was elected and the constitution was approved on Organization Sunday, September 11, 1977. On May 6, 1979 the first Capital Funds Appeal dinner was held to secure the initial monies to finance a worship center. Groundbreaking was held September 7, 1980. A procession was held from Fairview School to the new building on June 14, 1981, and the first worship service was held in the partially completed building on June 21. Dedication was held on September 13, 1981.
