General note

This congregation organized on January 26, 1919 under the leadership of Rev. J. E. Madson of Absarokee. Earlier beginnings, however, go back to 1907 and 1908 when several families from Norway settled in the Hardin area and in 1914 when arrangements were made with Pastor Madson for his services. Services were first held in the Washington Prairie School House west of town, and later in Carpenter’s Hall and the Seventh Day Adventist Church. A church was built in 1950 and a parsonage was completed in 1956.
