General note
Emmanuel Lutheran Church was organized in January of 1898 as a part of the Montana Home Mission District, and until 1941 was supervised by the Board of Missions. Organization was under Rev. C. E. Frisk. An A frame chapel was constructed on the church lot in 1901. The present building was dedicated in 1958. United was a break-off of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation in Butte and was organized in May of 1942. Gloria Dei was organized in March of 1959 as a result of the merger of these two congregations.
