General note

Hope Lutheran Church became incorporated on June 10, 1984 as the result of many years of work to merge the congregations of Our Saviour’s (ALC) with First Lutheran (LCA). Both congregations were organized in 1896 as the Scandinavian Union Church of Anaconda. Our Saviour’s was incorporated onFebruary 16, 1903 and First in 1904. The Our Saviour’s building was located on the corner of 5th and Chestnut and the First building was on the corner of 6th and Cedar. Both churches grew and prospered during the early part of the century. In 1957, First built a new church located in Washoe Park. In 1927 the original Our Saviour’s building wa sdestroyed by fire, and a new building was subsequently erected.
