Part of Johan Xavier Papers

This series contains the almost yearly diaries kept by Professor Xavier. In these diaries, Xavier wrote nearly every day about the weather, recorded the deaths within the community, and kept records of the prices of various purchases or bills. However, these diaries rarely have any mention of exact locations and sometimes Xavier wrote in a secret code identified in his notebooks as the J.U. + H.O. code.

This series includes newspaper clippings that interested Xavier, a list of books he donated to various libraries and individuals and a notebook that served as both a commonplace book and a place for Mr. Xavier to store his wide knowledge of all sorts of languages.
