An edited version of sections of an unpublished book manuscript written by Stephen Forslund of Tacoma, Washington in approximately 1975. Readers are encouraged to refer to the original document in the Scandinavian Immigrant Experience Collection at Pacific Lutheran University. (endnote 1) as dates and names may not be accurate due to the difficulty of reading the original.

In addition, Forslund writes from the knowledge of the time which may not be always accurate in light of current information. Any editing mistakes are the responsibility of this editor. "My journey to America and reminiscences of the Civil War" by Ole Nilson Hegna includes a 5 page typed document and 3 handwritten notes concerning the Civil War and the Fifteenth Wisconsin Regiment.

Consists of a manuscript describing the Olson family’s history beginning with Jonas (born 1831) and his wife Anna Britta Hed (born 1835). The manuscript talks about their lives as immigrants and pioneers in Minnesota. History about their daughter Josephine and her husband John Olson and their personalities and their children is also discussed.

Photocopied musings of Bergner titled "På väg till Amerika," or "On the Way to America." These documents are both in Swedish and typewritten in English.

Assortment of 119 index cards, 17 smaller cards and 2 notebook pages on Swedish settlement history, primarily Washington.

History of Swedish Immigration in the Puget Sound, by Stephen Forslund, pages 1-107.
This manuscript was written in Tacoma, Washington, in 1973 about the Swedish immigrants to Tacoma, Pierce County, and adjacent territories. It was completed after years of research for the proposed Swedish Archive at the University of Washington. This portion of the manuscript covers the first Swedish emigrants around 1638 through the Swedes in Pierce County in the 1890s.
