Biographical Note
The Janssons in Sweden date to Pehr Jansson and his descendents Per Persson, born 1702, and Catharina, born 1701, and go through Carl Johan Jansson. Carl Jansson was born 14 March 1831 in Järfälla parish near Stockholm, Sweden, and died in 1918. He was a tenant or farmer in Sweden. His second wife was Anna Stina Johansson, born 28 February 1842 in Larf, Skaraborg, Sweden. She died in 1919. Both are buried in Skå. They had two sons, Johan Teodor Johansson born 1868 and Erik Johansson born 1871. Carl also had three children from his previous wife: Anna Maria, Karl August (Carl Berlin), and Frank Ludwig (who died at an early age at sea).
Anna Maria Johansson, born 23 July 1859 in Järfälla, Sweden, married Gustav Erik Adolph Larson. She and Gustav immigrated to the United States and had eight children.
Karl August Johannson immigrated to America in 1893 and changed his name to Carl Berlin. He was born on 17 November 1863 and died in 1935. He married Karolina Charlotta Karlsson in 1892 in Sweden. They had four children. They lived first in Chicago and then Nebraska, South Dakota, and finally in Kandiyohi County in Dovre, Minnesota.
Herman Berlin, son of Carl Berlin, married Johanna (Hannah) Kallevig in 1919. They lived in Willmar, Minnesota. They were members of the Seventh Day Adventists church and farmed their whole lives. Herman died in 1978 and Hannah in 1986. They had five children.
Johan Teodor Johansson, son of Carl and Anna Jansson, was born on 11 March 1868 in Bromma, Stockholm, Sweden. He immigrated to Tacoma, Washington, and changed his name to John Johnson. He married Anna Kaisa Karinsdotter. Johan died in 1942 and Anna in 1948. They had three children.
Erik Johansson, son of Carl and Anna Jansson, was born on 13 August 1871 in Ekero, Stockholm, Sweden. He married Emma Augusta Cecilia Isaksdotter. They lived in Skå, Sweden and had two children. Both Erik and Emma died in 1944.
