General note
The area’s potential to serve as a possible mission site was first pointed out to the North Pacific District in 1980. In late 1981 the congregation received approval of the request for funding the new congregation. In January of 1982 a call was extended to Gerald Erickson to serve as organizing pastor, and he began his work in the area on March 15. The congregation’s first worship service took place on June 6, 1982 with 180 in attendance. Formal organization followed on January 16, 1983 with 145 charter members. Construction of a first unit was complete in 1985.
