Rev. Gordon Loren arrived in Renton on January 1, 1969 to begin work toward developing Nativity Lutheran Church. The first service was conducted on May 22, 1969 with 39 in attendance. The congregation began meeting at Fairwood Elementary School on September 7, 1969. Sunday Church School classes began that day with 70 children attending. Charter Sunday was Christmas Eve of 1969, and formal organization took place March 9, 1970.Dedication of the church was held May 22, 1977.
