Biographical Note
Ole Shuros was born in Reitstoa, Norway, on 19 September 1888. He Immigrated to America in 1910, settling in Astoria and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He lived in South Dakota until 1917 when he left by train to Seattle and a year later to Alaska. He married Anna Fallbacher in 1926 in Anchorage. They had one child, Walter, born in Seattle on 14 June 1947. In his lifetime, Ole worked as a carpenter, a cooper (barrel maker), a miner, and a trapper. In 1950 he began operating the Gaffney Road Trailer Court. After selling the operation he went into business with his son for 16 years, namely at the Hillside Store, Bar and Roadhouse in Livengood. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Seattle Aerie #1, the Sons of Norway Lodge, Pioneers of Alaska, and the German Club of Fairbanks.
