Scope and content

The Oregon Congregation Files contain limited information on Lutheran congregations in Alaska received either from regional Synod offices or directly from the congregation. Files may contain Congregational Historical Record forms, written histories of the church, service programs and bulletins, Congregational Statistical Record forms, and newspaper clippings. For a limited number of congregations, photographs and/or Parish Records are also included.

System of arrangement

Files are arranged alphabetically by city and then alphabetically by congregation name. If a congregation has been known by several names, the current or most recent name is generally used.

If an extensive amount of operational records were transferred from a congregation (typically upon the congregation's closure or merger), those records are arranged and described individually and are not part of the Congregation Files series.
