General note

Even before becoming a mission congregation, a group of Sunnyside Lutherans began worshipping together under the leadership of seminarian Dick Arthur. In the spring of 1953, Rev. Ernst Nygaard was called as mission pastor and the groundwork was laid for the new congregation. Under Pastor Nygaard’s leadership, the congregation celebrated its first Sunday service of Holy Communion on Sunday, October 4, 1953.
