General note
In 1958 the Mission Board of the ELC purchased a site in Northwest Great Falls with a view of beginning a new congregation. In April of 1960 construction of the first unit was begun, and in August Rev. Richard Waag arrived to begin the work on what was to become Redeemer Lutheran Church. The organizational meeting was held on Christmas Day 1960. The congregation grew rapidly, and by 1963 more space was needed. A new Sunday School wing was ready for use on November 15, 1964, and a parsonage was completed that year as well. At the fifth anniversary of the congregation an addition which contained office space was dedicated.
