      General note

For several years groups of Christians would come together for worship in Sunburst, but it was not until January 9, 1939 that this group met with Pastor Earl Soiland of Shelby to organize their own church. On March 10 of that year the church was formed with the help of the Home Missions of the NLCA, and shortly thereafter construction began. The first service held in the new church was on June 11, 1941. In 1954 several city lots were acquired and a new parsonage was built, and in 1958 a new and larger church was built on these same lots, with the old church being used as a parish education building. In 1980 a new parish education building was erected and the old church was sold.
