St. Paul Lutheran Church has roots that go back to 1967, when a number of pastors from the Anchorage area to the Kodiak area to conduct services for interested families. Rev. Ernest Johnson of Bristol, South Dakota, was called in September of 1968 to serve as pastor. The congregation was officially organized the following April. Arrangements were made to use the facilities of the St. James Fisherman Episcopal congregation. In 1977, the congregation constructed a new church facilities which includeded the sanctuary, classrooms, offices, and fellowship hall.
