The manuscript discusses John’s childhood and young adult life in Sweden, the jobs he had, and his immigration to America in order to earn a better life for himself. It also tells about the working conditions in the early 1900s, construction in Seattle, and church life and changes. His wife’s family is described, as is his children’s families.

Consists of a copy of John H. Strande’s obituary clipping (dated 9 September 1928) and a handwritten list of genealogical information. There is also a brief letter regarding Julia Mathilda Johnson and an explanation as to why the family name of Johnson was changed to Strande in 1884.

John Melvin Moe Papers

A collection of letters, some between Reverend Moe and Roland Seboldt of Augsburg Publishing House, others between Reverend Moe and Norwegian author Per Lønning. The letters are all regarding manuscripts and editing. There are also handwritten notes by Reverend Moe: “Astrophe of Angelic Song” sermon, and “Index of Texts” from the Bible. There is also a flier from Augsburg that has the printed chapel sermon “The Adventure of Faith” given by Arndt L. Halvorson, a copy of an article “The Formula of Concord: Witnessing to the faith” by George W. Forell published in the Lutheran January 1978, and the newsletter Insights from 16 April 1978 with notes in the margins.

There is also an inventory dividing up family assets and a letter about relatives of the Johnson family from Kvarnevad, and a 1990 "Bayfield County Historical Happenings" that contains excerpts of these letters.
