Ole Overlie Family History

This document begins with one page on an English to Norwegian computer translation program developed by Don Hundven. The rest of the document is a family genealogy and history beginning with Marit and Ole Overlie. Each of their nine children and their spouses, children, and children’s children are discussed. Marit and Ole had thirty-five grandchildren. There is also information about Marit’s family, the Andrew Halvorsen Family and the Halvorsen quadruplets. There is a transcript of a news clipping about the fifty year anniversary of Ole and Marit Overlie. Finally, there is a history of Martin Kristian Hundvin (the father of the author of this manuscript) and descendants.

The leaflet contains information on Ole Bull’s music and compositions, emigration and colonization, and political activities.

Olav Boen Records

Contains various documents and items that Olav Boen kept during his lifetime. During the first decade of the twentieth century, he kept a scrapbook where he saved programs and tickets from events he attended, wedding invitations, and greeting cards from friends. He also kept a few loose brochures and programs, which span the years 1912 to 1971. He also accumulated photographs and postcards from his travels, mostly to Norway. The collection also contains newspaper articles, both in English and Norwegian, documenting Boen’s activity in the Scandinavian community in the Pacific Northwest.

Olaf Walseth Correspondence

Eleven letters written by Olaf Walseth of Trondheim, Norway, from 3 December 1922 to 24 July 1928. Olaf Walseth lived in “Fjeldly” on Byåsen, a part of Trondheim. He had two brothers, Ørnulf and Bertram. Three of the letters are addressed to Bella and one is addressed to “dear sister.” The rest of the letters start with “dear.” The letters describe Olaf’s life and contain responses to letters sent to him.

Olaf Rydjord Papers

Consists of a biographical sketch and personal papers of Olaf Rydjord. The biographical sketch was published in the “History of Snohomish County Washington” volume II in 1926. Two pages from the Pacific Lutheran College Bulletin published in August of 1927 show the record of the $5,000 gift Olaf donated to the Endowment Campaign. There is a letter written by Grace Birkestol to the PLU archives.

Personal papers for Olaf Rydjord include a card with the Norwegian and American flags drawn on it, a seasons greetings card, a one dollar membership card for a Norwegian-American club, two postcards, a 1931 map of Norway, “For My God and My Country” book, one page in Norwegian entitled “Subskriptionsindbydelse,” forty N.L.C.A. Centennial stamps, a brochure in Norwegian about Leif Erickson, a page announcing Faith in Action, a rally to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Stanwood Lutheran Parish with a list of duties of church membership, and a brochure with a list of all securities sold by Birger Osland & Co. and still in customer’s hands or redeemed, together with cost price to customer and current selling prices for 1911 to 1928.
