Malene Steen Autobiography

Malene Steen wrote her autobiography in 1922, which was translated from Norwegian into English by the Norwegian Historical Association in 1979. It contains information on Mrs. Steen’s marriage, family life, and emigration.

Magnusson, Jon and Gudrun

This interview was conducted with Jon and Gudrun Magnusson on November 1, 1982 at Foss Home in Seattle, Washington. It contains information on their family background, emigration, marriage and family, the Icelandic Literary Society Vestri, and Icelandic traditions. The interview also includes family histories written by Jon and Gudrun, a copy of the Icelandic Club Newsletter that announces the 95th and 90th birthdays of Jon and Gudrun, and photographs of Jon and Gudrun's wedding day, the house that Jon built on NW 70th in Seattle, four generations of the Magnusson family, Jon and Gudrun on their 60th wedding anniversary, and Jon and Gudrun at the time of the interview. Magnussen, Clara

The interview was conducted with Clara Magnussen on September 23, 1981 in Tacoma, Washington. It contains information about family background, emigration, work, marriage and family, community involvement, and Norwegian heritage. The interview also contains: 'The Life of Klara Sylthe Magnussen' by Clara, a family history written by Iver Sivertsen Sylthe, 'My School Days' by Clara, 'When I Was Fifteen' by Clara, an article on Servin Olsen Vaksvik and Anna Pedersdatter's diamond wedding anniversary, an article on the 'All My Somedays' living history project that Clara participated in (1981), and re-creations of Clara's ticket for the White Star Line, baptism certificate, cowpox inoculation certificate, baklandets (backcountry) church book, and her husband Mike's moving out certificate. In addition, several photographs are available, including one of Clara and her family in Norway, one of Clara and a friend in Tacoma, WA (1913), one of Clara and her husband, and two of Clara at the time of the interview. Lysglimt Anniversary Publication

A 30-year anniversary publication print for a youth group in Ålesund, Norway called Lysglimt, which was a part of an abstinence group. Lysglimt was established as a youth group publication November 2nd 1893, as a part of a larger abstinence group. This booklet, written in Norwegian, contains several articles regarding the history of the group, some short stories, and poems.
