The folder contains Esther Nilsen’s scrapbook dating from 1939 to 1941. There are articles about Scandinavia, about Eleanor Roosevelt, Norway under Nazi occupation, skiing and Torger Tokle of the Norway Ski Club. Also there are programs from the Seattle Civic Theater, Seattle United Norwegian 17th of May Committee, and newspaper clippings pertaining to World War II.

The folder contains Esther Nilsen’s scrapbook pertaining to her trip to the United States from 1939-1940. She traveled to New York, Canada, the Pacific Northwest, the Pacific Coast, Wyoming, and North Dakota. The scrapbooks includes the meal menus from the M.S. Oslofjord for third class in June 1939, pictures from various cities in Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California, and various programs for festivals, a church, and fairs.

This interview was conducted with Sivert Saure on June 17, 1984 in Bjørke, Norway. It contains information about family background, emigration, work, re-emigration to Norway, and further contact with America. The interview was conducted in Norwegian and is not fully translated. Also available are a photograph of Sivert as a young man and a photograph of Sivert at the time of the interview.
