Consists of eight letters documenting the lives of the Johnson family from 16 July 1891 to 7 January 1906. There is also an inventory dividing up family assets and a letter about relatives of the Johnson family from Kvarnevad, and a 1990 "Bayfield County Historical Happenings" that contains excerpts of these letters.
Contains twelve photocopied pages (including title page) of the recollections of Nils P. Frostensson, titled "My Own History, N.P. Frostensson's Memoirs" translated by Astride Levestrand and edited by Velma Bayler.
Contains a four-page manuscript entitled "Reisen Til America" about Knut Pedersen Haslerud’s voyage to America in 1883, and the immigrant’s condition in the new land. He discusses his positive experience on the Thingvalla Line during the trip. He gives advice to Scandinavian emigrants: what to bring and what to expect on the ride over. It also includes information on the names and dates of five generations of his family history. There are also excerpts from several letters, as he corresponded extensively with his brother. He writes about poverty in Norway before coming to America.
The first two pages are a short biography of Carl Solberg written by the translator, C.A. Clausen. Also included in the collection is a collection of letters written when Carl Solberg was a war correspondent for "Emigranten." He traveled with the Fifteenth Wisconsin, the “Norwegian Regiment,” during the Civil War; and these letters are an account of his observations between 2 March and 4 April 1862.
Consists of the transcript of an interview with noted home economist Mathilde Hader. This interview was conducted July 22, 1979. Mathilde's husband John asked the questions and the recorded interview was later transcribed.
