This diary, kept during Xavier’s time at Younglove Grocers, skips most of May and June. The Xaviers adopt a boy from Tacoma General Hospital on the 24th of July; they name him Paul. Unfortunately, Paul loses too much weight too quickly, so he is taken back to the Hospital. Once back, he steadily gains weight and Xavier records his rising weight often. Paul also begins to talk. Ella (sister of Mr. Xavier) also adopts a child. Various receipts and 2-cent stamps appear in the front of the book.

It mentions Xavier’s friendship Stuen and the two are often together, various quantities of quarts of milk (perhaps for Babs), he cut his arm badly and needed 3 stitches, and still preaches (perhaps at South Tacoma). This book stops June 21st and contains a list of addresses at the back.
This diary, written in a book by the Augsburg Publishing House, does not begin in this book until May 23rd. It mentions teaching classes, skips June, he installs a toilet, Signe falls ill and spends 3 weeks in bed, and he sees an operetta. Still writes infrequently.

This diary, kept during Xavier’s time at PLC, mentions he plays tennis and watches basketball but quarrels with Signe on April 19th: “How one can live peacefully with you is more than I can understand!”- Signe to Xavier. They gain a new baby girl on May 17th and name her Barbara (Babs). She is officially adopted on June 8th. She also rapidly loses weight but she recovers quickly. Xavier starts Parochial School on June 19th and occasionally prints now. The Xaviers are given a surprise anniversary party by their friends for their 10th anniversary. No accounts appear in the back, but there are notes from Bible Institute or Conference and Entry for May 4, 1922. In front is the list of addresses, as well as an election card and some sort of building plans on the back of junk mail.
This diary, kept during Xavier’s time at PLC, includes Barbara’s weight often when he writes down the results every day: “Babs’s first tooth comes in on February 3rd”. He still watches PLC basketball, writes notes from all the sermons he attends or gives with the title and speaker, notes Paul’s smart answers to Signe, resigns as secretary of Our Savior’s Church and becomes a member of Trinity Church. Babs learns to stand up on July 28th and her bottom teeth come in crooked, so the Xaviers take her to the dentist. Xavier becomes the leader of the Junior League, Paul’s left foot is poorly, and Xavier is still preaching and might even be the temporary chairman of the congregation at Trinity.
