      General note

Pastor Dean W. Berg was called from First Lutheran of Des Moines, Iowa to be the pastor-developer for Light of Life Lutheran Church, Aloha, Oregon, arriving on May 16, 1983. After meeting community leaders and putting publicity in local newspapers, Pastor Berg began calling door to door. A list of interested people was formed and a parish paper was established and mailed monthly. The first worship service was held at Hazeldale Elementary School on September 25, 1983 and Sunday School started October 30. January 15, 1984 was Opening the Charter Roll Sunday, and the congregation was officially organized on May 6 of that year with 165 charter members (105 adults and 60 children). Pastor Berg was installed as the first pastor on July 10. The congregation became self-supporting January 1, 1985. A Building Fund campaign was successfully completed on March 11, 1985 and a building committee was organized.
