General note

St. Matthew, first known as West Hills Lutheran church, was organized on January 10, 1943 with 23 charter members. Because of World War II the congregation was unable to build, so they used a vacant office building and the chapel of a defunct cemetery. The first building was on the corner of 103rd Ct. and Canyon Road. An expanded church plant was dedicated on March 6, 1960. A large sanctuary was added to the facilities on May 11, 1975.
