On June 1, 1973, Rev. E. David Spencer and family arrived in Beaverton from Utica, Michigan. The first worship service, held at Somerset West Covenant Church, was on September 9, 1973, with formal organization taking place on February 27, 1974. Groundbreaking for the new building was held October 6, 1974, with the first worship service, taking place there on June 1, 1975. The church was designed for multi-purpose activities and services, and has housed the Headstart program of Washington County.
