Consists of a manuscript describing the Olson family’s history beginning with Jonas (born 1831) and his wife Anna Britta Hed (born 1835). The manuscript talks about their lives as immigrants and pioneers in Minnesota. History about their daughter Josephine and her husband John Olson and their personalities and their children is also discussed.

These documents are the family history of the Baalson family beginning with Ellen and Kari Baalson who came to America in 1861. Their descendents numbered close to 400 one hundred years later. The program for the Baalson Centennial shows that the event took place 4 July 1961 at Big Grove Church in Brooten, Minnesota. There is also a booklet that has a poem “Ode to Ellen and Kari Baalson” by Herman Baalson (the only living child of Ellen and Kari), a foreword by George Baalson, a family tree, a brief sketch of Elle and Kari Baalson’s history with a picture, and short biographies of family members.
The folder contains Esther Nilsen’s scrapbook pertaining to her trip to the United States from 1939-1940. She traveled to New York, Canada, the Pacific Northwest, the Pacific Coast, Wyoming, and North Dakota. The scrapbooks includes the meal menus from the M.S. Oslofjord for third class in June 1939, pictures from various cities in Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California, and various programs for festivals, a church, and fairs.

History of Swedish Immigration in the Puget Sound, by Stephen Forslund, pages 1-107. This manuscript was written in Tacoma, Washington, in 1973 about the Swedish immigrants to Tacoma, Pierce County, and adjacent territories. It was completed after years of research for the proposed Swedish Archive at the University of Washington. This portion of the manuscript covers the first Swedish emigrants around 1638 through the Swedes in Pierce County in the 1890s.
History of Swedish Immigration in the Puget Sound, by Stephen Forslund, pages 108-213. This portion of the manuscript covers Swedes who immigrated to Pierce County in the late 1890s to 1972. It also talks about the Finnish-Swedes.
