Louise B. Gustafson Papers

The personal documents of Louise Beata Svens and her three husbands, Gust Blomquist, Johannes (John) Bjons, and August (Gust) Gustafson. These include passports, marriage and citizenship certificates, correspondence, financial documents, and memorial plaques.

Lorents Osa Papers

Contains the personal documents belonging to Lorents Osa and his second wife, Christine Huglen. Such personal documents include calendars from Norway, correspondence from relatives in Norway, yearbooks from Oakville Union High School, photographs, and maps. Among Christine’s personal items, there is her high school diploma from the year 1915, as well as a memorial print in honor of her mother’s passing.

Loman, Anna

The interview was conducted with Anna Loman on October 23, 1981 in Tacoma, Washington. This interview contains information on personal background, employment, family, emigration, heritage, church and community life, and return trips to Sweden. It also contains a letter from Anna to Janet Rasmussen and photographs of Anna's homeplace, Anna's daughter Margit (March 16, 1925), Anna's last Christmas in Sweden (1926), Anna in Gig Harbor (1931), Anna weaving, at an auction (1942), Anna at Olympic Laundry in Tacoma, and Anna at the time of the interview. The interview was conducted in English with some Swedish towards the end of the interview.

Lokensgard Family History

A bound anthology of histories of various family members, divided into chapters with a preface from 1994 by the creators, a preface from 1949 by Professor Emil O. Ellingson introducing the “Pioneer Stories” written by his Uncle Ole. The an introduction, “Pioneer Stories” by Ole Lokensgard describes the origins of the family and discrepancies in spelling. Additional accounts include, "Grandmother Helga" by Olga Thompson, "Sigrid’s Story" by Sigrid Ellingson, “Pioneer Stories: A Continuation” by Fritjof Lokensgard, “My Father Mikkel” by Norris Lokensgard, “Christmas in Pioneer Days” by Knute Lokensgard, “Knute’s Story” by Ruth Larson and Beverly Williams, “Reminiscences” by Oluf Lokensgard, “Remembering Olina” by Norbert Snyder, “The Lillegard Writings” by Lars Lillegard.” Following these biographies are: Items of Interest – Hallingdal, Items of interest – Lake Prarie, and genealogical information for the descendants of Ole and Helga Lokensgard. The biographical accounts are written largley as first-person narratives and replete with personal anecdotes and rememberances, photographs, copies of personal documents, recipes, and genealogical records in the back.

Loe, Otto Calvin

The interview was conducted with Otto Loe on March 24, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington. This interview contains information on family history, childhood, confirmation and school, Christmas traditions, emigration, voyage to America, work in the U.S., learning English, sailing, marriage, working for a printing press, citizenship, children, community involvement, visits to Norway, changes in Norway, and Norwegian heritage. The interview was conducted in English.
